Layers
A full non-destructive layer stack per submesh, just like Photoshop.
Every submesh gets its own layer stack. Paint on layers, adjust opacity, hide, duplicate, merge, and import an image straight into any layer, the way Photoshop taught you it should work.
- Layer opacity is undoable, and a whole slider drag coalesces into one undo step.
- Duplicate a layer as a single step.
- Hide a mesh or lock it and your strokes stay off it.
Adjust Color
Adjust Color... in the Layers panel recolors a whole layer at once, previewing live on the model as you drag. Hue runs -180 to 180 degrees, and Saturation, Lightness, Brightness and Contrast each run -100 to 100. Invert gives you the negative, Reset returns every slider to zero.
Match Target reads a color off this layer's own paint and shifts the layer until that color becomes the one you want. Pick a FROM color and a TO color off the model, or press Use Brush to make the current paint color the target.
- Closing keeps the result. The close box and Esc both commit, because by the time you have what you want you are looking at the model rather than at the window. The window says so in its footer.
- Revert throws away every change made in the window and closes it.
- A commit is one undo step per submesh, so Ctrl+Z after closing puts the layer back the way it was.
- Opening Adjust Color on a second layer commits the first one before moving on.
