Exporting Textures
Write clean PNGs, per submesh or whole model, merged or separate layers, originals never touched.
Save... in the Texture panel opens an export-options modal, then writes painted textures to PNG without ever overwriting the originals.
- Choose All or This submesh.
- Choose All or Visible layers.
- Merge everything into one file, or write separate layer files.
Drop the results straight back into Unity, Unreal, Godot, or any 3D software. The free version watermarks its exports, and a license removes it.
PNG or TGA
Settings > TEXTURE EXPORT sets which file format painted textures are written as. It is a default rather than a law: type a name ending in .tga at the save dialog while the setting says PNG and that one export obeys what you typed, without changing the setting underneath you.
The Export window is asking you a question
File > Export... opens a window that lists every file format MechaPaint could write and, under each one, every option that format could carry. It is grouped into MESH FORMATS, TEXTURE FORMATS, LAYERED FORMATS, RENDERS AND CAPTURES, and PROJECT AND DATA.
Think of it as a menu of what could come next. It is there so you can see the whole space and tell me which combinations you actually need, because the export screen is being shaped by what people ask for. The export that ships today is Save... in the Texture panel, described above.
Tell me which rows matter to you and they get built first.
